About Us

The Friends of the Chateau de Morès (FCDM) is a registered nonprofit organization that supports the Chateau de Morès State Historic Site.

The Chateau de Morès State Historic Site encompasses the original historic home and structures, ranch holdings, factory ruins, and a small park in downtown Medora. The site interprets the story of the de Morès family as they founded the town of Medora, built multiple businesses, and summered here from 1883-1886.

Guests can enjoy self-guided tours of the Chateau and grounds, staff-led programming, free History Alive! performances, wagon rides, and more! For more information on how to plan your visit, click here.

On this site you can find information about annual events, learn more about the de Morès family, schedule a field trip for your school group, and so much more!

The Chateau de Morès State Historic Site is one of 59 state historic sites operated by the Division of Archeology and Historic Preservation, which is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The Chateau de Morès is proud to be the only state historic site in Medora. This website is run by the nonprofit support group, the Friends of the Chateau (FCDM).
